Adjusting Your Online Poker Game

For all the difference in setting and atmosphere between brick and mortar and virtual card rooms, there are a few elements that remain constant and the same. This includes, of course, the need to modify strategies and tactics, not just after a game but even during one.

One of the common traits that you will see on new online players is that they will come into a game with only a single Poker strategy in mind. For example, they will enter the game and play tight, knowing that it is the best way to play at that particular table.

However, what these online Poker players fail to take into account is that there is no guarantee that that is the way the game is going to be played the rest of the way.

If the online Poker game becomes more loose, the variance will change. What this means is that more hands will be played, more players will see the flop and the bets and the pot will increase. The strategy of playing too tight will work against you now because you will not get any action.

The reverse is also true; you can come into a loose game, but if for some reason the players become tight, you must learn how to adjust to it. True, there are some tables where the games may almost always be loose or tight, but the time will come when those players will eventually learn how you play.

In some cases, a loose player coming into a tight game will change the complexion of the entire table. So you should always look for a way to adjust.

We are only talking about loose and tight online Poker games, and not even talking about those where maniacs or calling stations are involved, but the point is the same. If you want to succeed and make money playing online, you must come into the game ready to make any changes that will be necessary.

The fact is that the game is ever changing; more and more Poker players are coming to play, and while most are fish, there are some that will come in with more knowledge about the game than most, so you need to be prepared.

You will not learn all the Poker strategy and tactics at once, but you will eventually, through constant practice. When you come into the game prepared for any alterations, you are already halfway to winning the pots.
